How to Raise Expectations through a Membership Class

Dan Garland, our Director of Pastoral Ministries and Church Consulting says, "raising expectations begins by clearly communicating the expectations associated with the discipleship process of your church." He suggests the following:
  • Begin by developing a clear, easily explained, and communicated mission / purpose statement.
  • Communicate this mission statement to all the membership.
  • Develop a membership class for all new members.

In this article he says that when your church is resistant to change there are congregational, personal, cultural, as well as fear / faith issues that need to be examined and considered. In the article he offers a list of things to consider for each. He then offers five ways to deal with a church resistant to change: Properly assess the church’s attitude toward change. Honestly evaluate your own motivation in suggesting change. Practice good change agent principles . Educate yourself in the skills of a good change agent by attending conferences and reading appropriate resources . iGoogle Lets You Create a Free Home Page

I've been using the beta version of Google Home Page for months and it seems to get better and better. My favorite part of this public version of iGoogle is the ability to track my favorite bookmarks, rss feeds, search tools, weight loss tool, blog feeds, and a whole assortment of "gadgets." This is a screen shot of my iGoogle Home Page... I encourage you sign up for one of these free pages and begin playing with it. Once you add elements, play with dragging the elements around to different places on your screen. Then begin adding tabs to keep track of the blog feeds you follow, sermon search tools, news feeds, and other tools. Be sure to add the following feeds in the "add by URL" form.
