Fascinating Article on Conflict and Consensus

I saw this referred to in John Maxwell's leadership e-newsletter. The article is actually chapter 1 from Michael A. Roberto's book "Why Great Leaders Don't Take Yes for an Answer: The Leadership Challenge." It's a fascinating article on conflict and consensus. I think it would be helpful to look at it from the pastor's perspective as a leader.

Fireproof movie Garners Multiple Endorsements from Marriage Advocates

ALBANY, Ga., March 27, 2008 - " Fireproof ," the new action/relationship film from the creators of "Facing the Giants" and "Flywheel," releases this September from Sherwood Pictures and Provident Films. I've just posted a new article by Bob Sheffield . In this article he says that when your church is resistant to change there are congregational, personal, cultural, as well as fear / faith issues that need to be examined and considered. In the article he offers a list of things to consider for each. He then offers five ways to deal with a church resistant to change: Properly assess the church’s attitude toward change. Honestly evaluate your own motivation in suggesting change. Practice good change agent principles . Educate yourself in the skills of a good change agent by attending conferences and reading appropriate resources . Remember that your role in the change God wants to bring in the church you pastor may be that of starting a change process that someone else completes .
